Rolls-Royce has won orders worth £55 million since the beginning of 2003 to supply marine design and equipment packages for the offshore industry, continuing its strong presence in this market.
Thirteen of the company's world-leading UT-Design offshore service vessels will be built in Brazil, Singapore and Norway.
As well as designing the ships, Rolls-Royce will provide a variety of equipment including engines, winches, propulsion systems, rudders and steering gear, cargo bulkhandling systems and automation and monitoring systems.
The current orderbook, for the delivery of designs and equipment for 45 offshore vessels later this year and through 2004, is worth more than £200 million.
Saul Lanyado, Rolls-Royce President - Marine, said: "We are continuing to win orders in the offshore sector for our highly-successful UT-Design ships. More than 430 have been delivered or are on order to customers worldwide.
"Our range of services is also continuing to expand. Dynamic positioning systems are now in development and, together with our partner Furuno, we will be offering integrated bridge systems based on this new product."
The customers for the 13 vessels are based in Brazil, Singapore, France and Denmark,
